Let’s get serious and figure out where to go this evening after our brainstorming of the agenda!

What about West Sixth Brewery (www.westsixth.com/our-location/)? There’s a wonderful seafood takeout next door for when we get hungry (smithtownseafood.com/). What do you say?

Best wishes,

Randolph

Parking – lots of choices but maybe Parking Structure #5 is best? http://kentucky2014.thatcamp.org/2014/05/28/parking-lots-of-choices-but-maybe-parking-structure-5-is-best/ http://kentucky2014.thatcamp.org/2014/05/28/parking-lots-of-choices-but-maybe-parking-structure-5-is-best/#respond Wed, 28 May 2014 13:15:57 +0000 http://kentucky2014.thatcamp.org/?p=33

Hi guys,

Parking Garage #<a href=5" src="http://www.uky.edu/CampusGuide/images/0202.jpeg" width="295" height="241" />Probably the best spot is Parking Structure #5 (next to Kennedy’s Bookstore) – enter from either Limestone (near the pedway) or from Upper (after Bolivar Street intersection).  That has guest parking, and it’s a pretty easy walk across the pedway up to main campus and then straight on to Little Library.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at 2 p.m. today in the Niles Gallery.

Best,

Randolph

Looking forward to seeing everybody at THATCamp Kentucky 2014 http://kentucky2014.thatcamp.org/2014/04/08/everybody/ http://kentucky2014.thatcamp.org/2014/04/08/everybody/#respond Tue, 08 Apr 2014 14:38:08 +0000 http://kentucky2014.thatcamp.org/?p=21

This is our second year for THATCamp Kentucky – last year’s collaboration between Morehead State and UK brought in more than 30 scholars from near and far and we’re anticipating an even larger group this year! This year we’ve also got Kerri Hauman from Transylvania University and Laurie Henry with the KY P20 Innovation Lab (who partnered with Fayette County Public Schools to create the STEAM Academy). We hope to include many other institutions as well – it would be great if you could help us spread the word.

The agenda and sessions are determined by the participants – so be sure and come with ideas! Some of the ideas already generated by the steering team have included topics/forums/workshops such as:

  • social media in and around the classroom
  • GIS mapping and community-based service-learning projects
  • virtual worlds and simulations for undergraduate research projects (e.g., UK island in Second Life)
  • a Hackathon or a Maker’s Fair with youth from the FCPS STEAM Academy
  • Wikipedia editing and article writing with Kentucky WikiProject members
  • data visualization (geospatial mapping, social network analysis, statistical visualizations)
